Guest curator : Raphaële Jeune
In collaboration with the philosopher Frédéric Neyrat
With P.N. Ledoux
For the first stage of his exhibition,"Plutôt que rien : démontages" Raphaële Jeune develops in collaboration with the philosopher Frédéric Neyrat , a curator system thanks to a protocol proposed to forty five artists, one per open day. This protocol permits to organize and introduce this exhibition in a unique and peculiar way in order to last .Each artist is invited to exhibit his work during one day in the art center Maison populaire, it could be a painting, installation or modality of presence choose in this specific context. This short time, insert in a chronological chain between the previous and the next suggestions, permits to plan the artistic intervention in a different way compared to those group shows organize in a classic space. In these classic exhibitions, the works is installed before the opening, cleaning out the space of the artist presence."Plutôt que rien : démontages" places this artist in a process of appearance/presence/disappearance of the work, revolving the way of thinking of the artist in a space that looks like a controlled construction site. Including curator comments constantly transformed. Thus, an infinity of circumstances can be introduced, the artist has the total liberty to interpret the protocol, and to play with the movement of constant distortion created during the exhibition. Each day, the moment of removal and the fitting of the works is a sort of privileged appointment with the public.
