Eric White's thought-provoking, painstakingly rendered imagery is often breathtakingly beautiful while intensely disturbing. With his unusual approach to figuration, White attempts to tap into realities and dimensions that exist beyond the fringe of our perception. Through his metaphysical lens, our world and its inhabitants are transformed. Referencing found imagery (often that of '40s era Hollywood), his own photographs and his unpredictable imagination, White creates "paintings about films about dreams about the neighbors." His unique combination of themes and technique produces complex, refined environments that are at once multi-dimensional, two-dimensional, perilous, and inviting. Eric White grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and received his BFA in 1990. He has shown extensively in galleries and museums such as The American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Gracie Mansion in New York, Robert Berman and Track 16 in Los Angeles, and Moda Politica in Tokyo. His work is sought after by a wide range of collectors including Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, David Arquette and Courteney Cox.
