In the Event of Andy Warhol

Artist Shepard Fairey is invited to join the exhibition of “ in the Event of Andy Warhol”, a commemoration of Andy Warhol put together by W&L, Roanoke college and Hollins University. In 2008, a gift was made to W&L of over 150 photographs by the legendary artist, Andy Warhol. To commemorate their 20th anniversary, the Warhol Foundation donated close to 30,000 of Warhol’s Polaroids and balck and whit prints to over 180 educational institutions across America.  Amount them, three institutions have collaborated with each other to present the hightlights from each of their collection. In addition to the exhibition, Shepard Fairey was invited with a selection of contemporary artist with works inspired by Warhol for display.  The originall works of Warhol will be paired with inspirational work at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum at Hollins.
